21 Mustangers volunteered for the Partners in Education Mentoring program in the 2008-2009 school year at Watkins Middle School. Each Mustanger was carefully paired with a student that shared the same interests or goals. Mustang mentors are asked to meet their student for one hour a week, committing to serve as a guide and a friend while helping the student with his/her educational and personal development. As the school year came to an end, Mustangers and their students met one last time for a fun-filled afternoon. Mentors and students took a special moment to exchange farewell cards, and Mentors gave words of encouragement to their students! It may have been the last official time for Mustangers and their students to meet, but for many, life-long relationships were formed. Mustangers are made a difference in the lives of Watkins students!
