Mustang is always looking for eager, exceptional university students as interns. Since interns have the potential to become future Mustang Young Guns, their training and education is given high value. Interns work on project teams or support department work and are mentored by both seasoned Mustangers and Young Guns. Returning interns are often rotated to different departments to gain maximum exposure to the company, enabling them to develop a well-rounded education and become a great asset to the company in the future. Currently Mustang’s internship program is expanding to cover all disciplines. Interns attend a weekly training meeting where a current Young Gun covers various topics such as offshore facilities design, instrumentation, or P&IDs. This is a great way for the interns to learn about the industry and observe the roles young engineers have on various projects and in various disciplines. At the end of the summer, each intern is required to give a presentation to a group consisting of other interns, Young Guns, mentors and managers summarizing what he/she learned about the industry, Mustang, and their project that summer. Depending on project timing, field trip opportunities may include accompanying a package engineer on local equipment checkout visits. Mustang values the opportunity to invest in university students!
