Mustang’s syngas team handles a wide variety of processes and configurations involving synthesis gas. Our focus is conversion of coal, petroleum coke, and waste biomass to a wide range of high value products through gasification and related processing as well as conversion processes for natural gas (methane) to synthesis gas through partial oxidation (POX) or steam methane reforming (SMR). Products include: hydrogen, liquid transportation fuels, power, steam, synthetic natural gas, and chemicals. The CO2 by-product is produced at a higher pressure than traditional coal power plants, which makes enhanced oil recovery (EOR) or carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) more economical. These facilities offer “green, environmentally-friendly” operations.
Mustang has expertise in many units involved in these large, integrated facilities, including acid gas removal (AGR), sulfur recovery, solids storage and handling, EOR, chemicals, and water treatment. Through our sister companies, Wood Group Power and IMV, we also have access to extensive power, turbine, and Canadian oil sands expertise. We have team members with experience in multiple technology suppliers’ gasification systems and applications.
