HOUSTON, TEXAS –Mustang Engineering and John Wood Group PLC were presented with an Approval in Principle (AiP) from Det Norske Veritas (“DNV”) for the LNG Smart® Air Vaporization (SAV) process. The AiP represents an independent assessment of the SAV concept and affirms that it can be installed on a DNV-classified vessel subject to approval of the detailed design.
Compared to conventional regasification methods, the SAV process is an environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient technology that uses a closed-loop intermediate fluid, circulating through fin-fan heat exchangers to extract heat from ambient air. It applies this heat to vaporize the LNG from its cryogenic state to pipeline temperatures for transporting and storage.
The LNG Smart® Air Vaporization Technology is the cornerstone component of Mustang’s suite of LNG technologies, which also includes LNG Smart liquefaction processes, horizontal LNG storage tanks, various floating vessels with regasification and storage technologies (FSRUs), and floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs) with onboard liquefaction.
