Wood Group has won multiple new contracts in India during the last 12 months, worth a combined total of more than $10 million. With around 150 employees in-country located at offices in Gurgaon, Pune and Chennai, the new contracts – awarded to Wood Group GTS, Wood Group Kenny and Wood Group Mustang – demonstrate the Group’s continued commitment to supporting oil & gas and power operators across India.
Wood Group GTS has secured two contracts to supply its patented EcoValue™ gas turbine compressor water wash systems. The first order is for the supply of the EcoValue technology which will be commissioned on offshore platforms in the Mumbai region of India. This contract includes nine water wash systems to support 22 gas turbines as well as a five-year maintenance agreement for 10 operational offshore platforms.
A second contract has been awarded by a large electric utility in New Delhi for the supply of two EcoValue compressor water wash systems for installation on four GE Frame 9E gas turbines operating at a gas fired power station. This contract also includes the supply of two sets of GE Frame 9E 1st stage nozzles.
Frank Avery, President of Wood Group GTS – Power Plant Services said, “Many gas turbine operators in this region are investing in proven technology to help them satisfy a growing demand for energy, and we are proud to deliver performance enhancing and environmentally beneficial solutions for the Indian market.”
Wood Group Kenny has been involved in a number of projects across India. In its capacity as EPCM consultant (engineering, procurement, construction, management) the company has commissioned three major onshore pipeline projects, as well as India’s city gas distribution network which brings gas into seven major cities across the country – Meerut, Indore, Kota, Sonepat, Dewas, Gwalior and Kanpur. Wood Group Kenny has also won two framework agreements to provide a range of engineering and construction management services for two onshore projects.
Steve Wayman, CEO Wood Group Kenny said, “We have been established in India for over a decade now, and we expect to see further growth from both domestic and international projects in the near future. The network of pipeline infrastructure in this region continues to expand rapidly and we are well placed to provide engineering and project management services to support a wide range of projects.”
Wood Group Mustang has completed FEED (front end engineering and design) services for an onshore gas compression facility located on the east coast of India, which compresses natural gas produced from deepwater gas fields.
Steve Knowles, President, Wood Group Mustang said, “We have extensive global expertise in onshore facilities design and this project gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities we can bring to the Indian market.”

Wood Group GTS’ EcoValue™ water wash technology is approved by gas turbine original equipment manufacturers and is designed for use in both offline and online operations. Compressor fouling is unavoidable and leads to a loss of gas turbine performance and increase of gas turbine fuel consumption. Therefore, managing the efficiency of the compression process is very important to maintain overall cycle performance. While modern air filter treatment can prevent some contaminants from entering the compressor, they cannot completely eliminate all environmental or process contaminants in the form of solids, salts, liquids and oils. Use of a well-designed offline and online water wash system can significantly improve turbine efficiency and performance, and possibly extend turbine parts life, without impacting the durability of compressor components.
